Nutrition Information

Limestone Flour (Calcium carbonate) provides a rich source of bioavailable Calcium. This is an important mineral for many functions within the horse’s body, including lactation, bone growth and maintenance, muscle function, blood clotting and enzyme function.  Diets high in straight cereals contain high levels of Phosphorus that can unbalance the sensitive Calcium:Phosphorus ratio within the body.  If Calcium is not available in the diet the body will obtain it from elsewhere, such as from Calcium stored in the bones.  Providing Limestone Flour to the daily cereal feed can help to redress the Calcium-Phosphorus balance.
